The Victoria League for Commonwealth Friendship was founded in 1901 to promote friendship and understanding among the peoples of the Commonwealth. The League is a registered charity and is a member of the Joint Commonwealth Societies Council.

How is the League financed?

The funds of the League are drawn from subscriptions, donations and income on investments. No Government grants or subsidy is received.

Who can join the League and who can use its services?

Any citizen over the age of 18 of a country which is a member of the Commonwealth is eligible for membership of the League.

The League’s services are available to all members and to all visitors from these countries.

Where does the League work?

Apart from the Headquarters in London there are Leagues and Branches elsewhere in the U.K. and in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Zimbabwe and affiliated organisations in Canada and the U.S.A.

What can the League do for you?

If you live in the UK we can help you to meet Commonwealth visitors. We offer you a varied programme of activities, which is open to the UK and overseas visitors and includes events of special interest to students and young people at our Student House.

Through our corporate membership of the Royal Over-Seas League and the New Cavendish Club, excellent club facilities are available.
