Student House has been trying to start an alumni of ex-residents. This is quite an undertaking, which has been helped by the introduction of social web-sites such as Facebook.

Ex resident Miranda De Graaf created a web-site on Facebook called ‘The Best Place to Live in London is the Vic League’ which has 126 resident and ex resident members. The name of the site will to be changed to The Victoria League Alumni, and Trudi (Deputy Manager) will take over as officer of the site. Hopefully more ex residents will find the League site once the name has been changed. 

We want to create a database of names of ex Victoria League residents and encourage them to join the Student House Facebook site which could then be affiliated to The Victoria League web-site.

With the technology of e-mail and social web-sites it should be a lot easier to track down ex residents and encourage them to become members of the alumni. 

Ex residents have found me on Facebook and been eager to tell me what they are doing with their lives and asked if I have any news of students who they lived with during their time at Student House.

The interest to share their memories and present lives with people they once knew at Student House is obviously there, it is just a matter of harnessing everyone together to a site where they can share their experiences of Student House and perhaps rekindle old friendships.

The Student House news page has recently had more pages added including fund-raising, recipes and general information of events at Student House and news of past residents.

I do hope that our endeavours to create an alumni succeed and welcome any comments or ideas from Leagues and Branches.
