Sierra Leone Project -UPDATE

Here is an update of the construction progress at Futa secondary school - since these were taken, the construction has progressed to roof level. The well has now been capped, sealed and a pump installed, and the foundations of the ecosan toilet are also under construction. 

We are planning a formal opening of the school in 2012, to commemorate the accession to the throne of Queen Elizabeth. We propose to name the school the Futa Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, and a plaque will be made to acknowledge this and the sponsorship of the Victoria League. This has been discussed with the local community, and they are delighted and fully supportive to have this link with the Queen and the Victoria League for their school.

We are also following up contacts to supply the school with desks, chairs, cupboards, office equipment, etc. We should be able to get most of the furniture needed donated from UK schools when they refit, and are now looking for sponsorship to pay for the container to ship these items to Sierra Leone in good time for the opening on February 6th.
