Originally from Torino, Italy, with dual Italian and Canadian nationality, Clarissa completed a Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) at the City University of London. She was also a Student Duty Officer at Student House for 2018/9. Here’s a quick Q & A with Clarissa:

Q: Why London?

A: I always believed it is the greatest city in the world, I still remember the first time I came here with my family when I was a child and since then, I always desired to live here because of its beauty, culture and traditions.

Q: How did you hear about Student House?

A: I was looking for a small student residence two years ago during my Criminology undergraduate studies and when I found Victoria League and decided to visit, I honestly thought that it was one of the cutest residences I have ever seen. I am so happy here and the staff is amazing!!

Q: What are your studies to date?

I am undertaking the GDL at City University at the moment and my ambition is to become a Criminal Barrister here in London.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

A: I enjoy reading very much, especially criminal, legal and medical (forensic medicine) books; I also really enjoy going to art exhibitions, legal and criminal conferences and different museums (I practically went to every museum here in London!!). Finally, I love music, especially listening to piano concerts.

Q: What is your ultimate dream/objective?

A: My ultimate objective is to become a successful Criminal and Human Rights Barrister, and to work internationally as well.

Q: Most memorable moment?

A: My most memorable moment was when I received an offer from Queen Mary University of London to undertake the LLM in Criminal Justice, immediately after graduating in Criminology. It was one of my happiest days in my life!

Q: What is something you couldn’t live without?

A: I could not live without my Bible, because I am a Christian and I just feel complete with this wonderful Book.

Q: What is something that irritates you?

A: Being late and disorganised!!

Q: Do you have an interesting fact/story about yourself?

A: A fact about me, but perhaps not that interesting, is that I am very loquacious: I can talk for hours and hours without stopping!

Q: What’s your favourite quote or inspirational figure?

A: One of my favourite quotes is “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I’m possible” by Audrey Hepburn, because whenever I am under pressure during my studies and I am dealing with extremely stressful situations that at first seem literally impossible, I meditate upon this sentence and I believe it helps in striving to achieve your goal at that particular moment, giving you power and strength to complete that task.
